Spring Workshop

Join us on Sunday March 20, 2011 and learn how to make this pond themed cake just in time for spring.   The workshop will start at 12:30pm at the Jarrett Hall on Horseshoe Valley Road.   We will add a few more gumpaste figures such as a snail, lady bugs and a tree.....so this is a great workshop if you want to learn more about modeling figures.

Space is limited so sign up early to reserve your spot.  Pre-payment of $50 must be submitted to hold your seat.  I accept e-mail transfers to info@smashingcakedesigns.com or please send an e-mail to arrange other payment options.

You will be e-mailed about a week prior to the workshop with a list of items required.   Such items will included, fondant, roller, fondant mat.   You can make a real cake or a dummy cake for the purpose of this workshop.

Catching up

Sorry I have been absent for awhile.   We were without internet for some time so I wasn't able to upload photos onto this site.

This one was for a 40th birthday party.  The whole cake is edible.

I will post a photo soon of another cake that was made in February.   I am going to offer a workshop on the cake, so will post a photo with the workshop info.....so stay tuned.

A few more Valentines treats

While being snowed in the other day, I decided to make the best out of it and bake some fun treats.

These mini cupcakes are chocolate with cream cheese icing and a fondant heart.

Do you remember those little heart candies with all the sayings on them?  I have seen a few cakes done up like the candies and just had to make one myself.    Why not personalize your own cake?  Add a fun message, someones name or maybe a Valentines proposal.

This cake was for a little guy turning 1.   His Mom requested a Zoo themed cake, then gave me full freedom to come up with a design.     I have been wanting to attempted another gift box cake for some time now so I thought this would be a perfect 1st birthday cake that also let me play with some techniques.

Happy 1st Birthday Calum!

1st Birthday Cake

How fitting that the first cake order for 2011 is a 1st birthday cake.    This cake was based of of the princess birthday cake I did a few months ago.   We just changed the design slightly by using stars instead of flowers and butterflies.
